Creationism

This web site says it all. In particular, there is the article entitled Creationism as a thinking disorder.. This article has a great bit in it which I quote below, where it compares anorexia and creationism fron the mental health point of view:

Books and pamphlets that put both sides of the case, as though there are arguments for and against creationism worthy of equal consideration, are similarly misguided. This would be like publishing the anorexic's argument for starving herself to death and weighing it respectfully against her consultant's view that she's a very ill person.

It is this which has persauded me not to bother refuting the bogus science they come up with. For me, I reckon it is just not worth the effort.

Richard Dawkins

The well known evolutionist, Richard Dawkins, has written a book called The God Delusion. Now here is someone who does think it is worth the effort, if only to warn other people of the dangers.

I recommend the book, despite the fact that some people say that Dawkins is himself a fundamentalist. They say that the shrillness of the complaints against the evils of religion is the giveaway and the kind of religious fundamentalists he rails against no longer exist except as charicatures. I can see why they say this but having escaped from fundamentalism myself, I agree with alot of what Dawkins says. For a damning review of Dawkins (just to be fair to both sides), see this article from Philosophy Now (requires subscription).
